Exam mistake journal

The fastest way to raise a test score is to stop making the same mistakes. MistakeLog is a mistake journal: every time you get a question wrong in practice, log the subject, topic, where it was and why you got it wrong, then write how you will avoid it next time.

Saved you some time? Leave a tip, entirely optional.

Each mistake comes back for review the next day, then after 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. Redo the question, mark whether you got it right, and the Patterns tab shows whether your problem is concepts, careless slips, misreading or timing.

How to keep a mistake journal

Whenever you get a question wrong, in homework, a quiz or a practice test, log it straight away while you still remember what happened. Enter the subject and topic, where the question came from, and choose the type of mistake: you did not know the concept, used the wrong method, made a careless slip, misread the question, forgot a fact or formula, or ran out of time. Write one line on what went wrong and one on how you will avoid it. MistakeLog suggests a fix for each type if you are stuck.

Open the Review tab every day. Redo each due question without looking at the answer, then mark Got it right to push it further out, or Missed it again to bring it back tomorrow. After five successful reviews a mistake is mastered.

Reading your patterns

The Patterns tab counts your mistakes by type, subject and topic. Concept and method mistakes mean you need to study the material again. Careless and misread mistakes mean you need a checking routine, not more content. Memory mistakes call for flashcards, and time mistakes call for timed practice. Knowing which kind costs you the most marks tells you how to spend your revision time.

Private by design

MistakeLog has no accounts and no server-side storage. Your journal stays in this browser and is saved in local storage on this device only. Use Backup to save a file you can restore on another device.
